Events

The Murphy Center hosts two main fundraising and awareness-building events each year: the Murphy Center Community Dinner and the Mission to Hope Walk.

”The Murphy Center was completely instrumental in all facets of help that I needed. The smiles and encouragement here made all the difference. In fact, everything I now enjoy is a direct result of the many resources and services that the Murphy Center offers. I am extremely grateful that such a place is in existence, otherwise I’m not certain what my circumstances would be at this time in my life.”  – David

Are you or your business interested in sponsoring one or both of our events? Our goal with each event is to spend as little as possible — that way, most of (or in some cases, everything) we raise can go to programs and services for people experiencing homelessness or in jeopardy of becoming homeless.  This would not be possible without our event sponsors: companies, foundations and individuals who donate in-kind or with direct funding to cover the costs of our events.  To learn more about sponsorship, please contact Ken John at Ken@HomelessGear.org or (970) 581-4921

thumb_dsc_0458_1024 thumb_dsc_0470_1024

The Murphy Center will host the second annual Community Dinner on Friday, August 4th, 2017.   The main fundraising mechanism for this event is ticket sales.  There will be guest artwork for silent auction but there will be no formal “ask” at the event.

The goals of the event are:

  • Bring the community together (those with housing and those without) to share a meal
  • Raise awareness about homelessness
  • Raise awareness about the Murphy Center
  • Raise funds to support the Murphy Center

There are four ways that you can support the Murphy Center Community Dinner:

  1. Purchase tickets for yourself, friends, and family ($50 per ticket)
  2. Purchase a ticket for a guest (someone receiving services) of the Murphy Center ($50 per ticket)
  3. Purchase a table, which includes 6 seats for you and 2 seats sponsoring Murphy Center guests ($400 per table)
  4. Make a donation

This event will be selling out very soon.  If that is the case and you still want to support the event and the Murphy Center you can:

  1. Click through to the ticket page (see link below) and make a donation
  2. Buy a cruiser bike for $150 for you or a gift for a friend or buy it and we will donate it to a guest in need of transportation in your honor.  (Call Pam Brewer at 970-829-1162 for more information)
  3. Buy a golf package to Pelican Lakes Golf & Country Club: Four 18-Hole Rounds Plus Carts, Weekday. FMV is $356.  (Call Pam Brewer at 970-829-1162 for more information)

Mission to Hope Walk – Saturday, December 2nd, 2017

    csu-walk-volunteers

The Murphy Center will host the 4th annual Mission to Hope Walk on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017.  We will walk as a unified community (those with housing and those without) along the same route that many of our guests take each day from the overnight shelters (Missions) to the Murphy Center.

The goals of the event are to:

  • Raise awareness about homelessness
  • Come together as a unified community
  • Share the Murphy Center with our community (via an Open House)
  • Raise funds for the Murphy Center

There are three ways that you can support the Mission to Hope Walk:

  1. Purchase tickets to walk for yourself, family and friends ($25 per ticket)
  2. Purchase a ticket to sponsor a guest (or guests) of the Murphy Center (someone receiving services) to walk, spend the morning at the Murphy Center and receive lunch
  3. Make a donation

Please click here for tickets, detailed event information and/or to make a donation.

You can also write a check to “Murphy Center” and mail it to: Murphy Center, Attn: Ken John, 242 Conifer Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524.  With your check, please include the name(s) of the ticket holder(s) and/or if you are purchasing tickets to sponsor guests of the Murphy Center.

If you intend to join us in the walk and are looking for an additional way to support our cause, we encourage you to donate gear in conjunction with the walk. Please feel free to pack along with you any high demand winter items. Just like the guests we serve, you must carry these items with you for the length of the walk; you can drop off your donations when we end our walk at the Murphy Center. Items that are in high demand for winter months include tents, hats, gloves, socks, footwear, jackets, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, blankets, hand-warmers, tarps, coats, backpacks and daypacks.
